One Game Studio is a Latin American video game company focused on developing the experience of having superpowers in real life through The Bone, a mobile game that uses augmented reality and the world around us. As System Designer, you will work with the Game Design area together with artists, experience designers and other team members. Using data,you will help us to balance all the game systems and understand the behavior of the players, and you will be part of the team that gives people around the world the experience of having superpowers in real life.

Reports to: Lead Game Designer

Summary: As a System Designer you will be in charge of working alongside the Game Design team and the development area to create the in-game economy and implement systems that create a balanced gaming experience and ensure that players interact with the different mechanics and game elements to ensure their engagement. These systems include balancing the stats of the different game elements, player progression, resource flow and in-game economy and combat mechanics, among others.

As part of the design team, your role will include having a statistical and mathematical perspective to understand the behavior of the players through metrics and analyze such behavior to propose game improvements based on data.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work together with the Lead Game Designer to create and understand the main game mechanics.

  • Balance of the in-game economy and analysis of the behavior of the players with respect to the flow of the different game resources.

  • Balance of the stats of the different elements of the game. (Life, Power, Attack, Behavior, Appearance rate, etc.)

  • Administration and management of databases and spreadsheets with game and play data.

  • Analysis of the game usage metrics to ensure that the player experience is as designed.

  • Iterate, polish, and balance player progression and experience.

  • Generate analysis reports of the most important metrics, understand their correlation and propose solutions to improve them.

  • Constant optimization of the different systems implemented in the game.


  • Programming in Python, SQL (preferably PostgreSQL)

  • Expert in managing spreadsheets, handling of advanced Excel formulas and scripts.

  • Knowledge of statistics.

  • Basic knowledge of macro and micro economics.

  • Ability to identify game systems and mechanics in different video games.

  • Knowledge of how to interpret and understand data to find patterns that explain the behavior of the players; proposing solutions to issues and to improve player experience.

  • Strong understanding of concepts such as stat curves, player progression systems, and game play loops.

Desired Experience:

  • Background in Applied Mathematics, Economics, Data Science and/or Programming.

  • It is not essential to have experience in game design, video games or the like, but it is expected that the applicant is a Gamer, understands the culture of video games and its terminology as well as a general knowledge of the industry.

Compensation: Depending on capacity and experience.
